FAQs for The Depot: Extended Day Program
How do I sign up?
Here is the link to the interest form. Complete the form by Friday, June 6th to indicate interest. We will send out payment information soon thereafter for you to secure a place for your child; space is limited! All submissions added after Friday, June 6th will be added to a waitlist.
Who is eligible to attend?
Open to any TK-6 student, including BUSD, OUSD, WCCSD, independent school, and homeschooled students.
What are we offering?
Snacks are included, as are Spanish classes, arts and crafts activities, games, free play, and time for homework. PE and movement classes will be offered throughout the week. Additional optional enrichment classes (ex. judo, chess, gymnastics, STEM, robotics, etc.) may be available for an extra cost.
Where is our school?
The Berkeley School is located at 1310 University Avenue, in the heart of Berkeley. We will have excursions into Strawberry Creek as weather/schedule permits.
How will my child get to TBS?
The Depot staff will meet Oxford Elementary students at their school and walk them up to The Berkeley School.
Other families will have to arrange transportation on their own, but we encourage carpools, or parenting adults taking turns leading walking groups or taking kids on public transportation—a useful life skill! AC Transit lines 51 and 52 stop nearby and we are closest to the North Berkeley BART station.
BUSD may be able to provide transportation from BUSD elementary schools (more information forthcoming) but HopSkipDrive and KangoApp are alternatives if your child needs transport to TBS.
Why are we expanding our program?
TBS is committed to meeting the demand for high quality after-school programming by opening our school and elements of our academic program to East Bay families. We hope to extend our mission—ignite curious minds, awaken generous hearts, and engage a changing world—to even more students in our community!

Tell me about the name, The Depot?
The Berkeley railway station dome for the Santa Fe line, built in 1904, is a City of Berkeley historic landmark; a depot is a locus of arrivals and departures, connection and change. It’s a well-known landmark on University Avenue and it embodies our welcome of the broader community into The Berkeley School. The Depot supports participants through their individual and collective journey of growth in developmentally appropriate, engaging, and inclusive ways!
