At The Berkeley School, preschool through 8th grade students develop academic and life skills in the context of civic engagement – making a positive difference for communities through political and non-political action.

The TBS approach to teaching and learning combines high expectations, responsive support structures, small class sizes, and meaningful assessment practices. Our curriculum integrates social-emotional development practices, emergent community events, and service learning projects to create rigorous academic environments where all students can progress from dependence to independence to interdependence.

As we strive to recognize and affirm the cultural histories and identities of all our students, and to educate the whole child, we seek faculty and staff who are knowledgeable and experienced in supporting these outcomes. If that sounds like you, let us know!
