We are in the process of scheduling our games that will start in April and continue to the end of May. The TBS volleyball team is open to grades 4th-8th.

This is an optional, drop-in time for students to work on assignments, get help from teachers, and bolster study skills. Sessions will be run by Stephen Cahill (SEL/Health Specialist); Jen Tilson (MS Learning Specialist/Executive Function Coach); and Julia Shields (4th-6th Learning Specialist). Good Work takes place on Mondays and Thursdays, after school from 3:35 PM to 5:00 PM.

Dear Live Oak Families,
We are excited to celebrate Kindness Week at ECC! As part of our festivities, we will be hosting a potluck on Friday, April 4. Each student will contribute an item to the potluck and enjoy a meal together. Since there will be plenty of food, students do not need to bring lunch that day. This event is only for students, but don’t worry—we will have more potlucks in the future where families will be invited!
Here, you’ll find a list of students along with their assigned potluck items. Please send the designated item with your child on the specified date. Most items will be needed on April 4, but a few will be collected on April 1 to prepare homemade macaroni and cheese for the potluck. Please double check the date on your assigned potluck item! If you’re unable to provide the assigned item by the due date, please let us know, and we’ll make arrangements.

See the authors that are visiting and order books through this link by 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18th and you can get them signed! Books can be ordered after that date through April 28th but they will likely not be signed.
Dress-up Day is Tuesday! Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite authors or characters. Halloween rule apply (no masks or weapons, no gory stuff).
Also, remember to donate K-8 books for our traditional book swap! We're collecting until Tuesday, April 23rd! You can donate your gently-used, K-8 appropriate books by handing your donation to the administrator on duty or drop them off in the UAC school office. Drop off your child at Berkeley’s Totland Park (a few blocks from the ECC) where we will enjoy a music class with Jon’s School of Music, have some playtime on the playground then have a picnic lunch! We will be walking to the ECC after our fun- it's 0.5 miles from the ECC and takes about 10 minutes to walk. If you have a wagon we'd love to borrow it for the day- it will be used for transporting lunch boxes and tired kiddos if needed 🙂

Coyote Hills spans 1,266 acres of marshland and rolling grassland-covered hills along the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, near Fremont and Newark. We'll be visiting for a program that introduces students to aspects of Ohlone culture, including their deep connection to the land, natural resources, and traditional skills. Through hands-on activities and time outdoors, students will explore artifacts, specimens, and tools that Native People continue to use today. We are very excited to visit when the weather allows!

Readathon 2025!
Get ready for Readathon 2025 next week! We are preparing for a week of celebrating books and reading from April 21-25, including Drop Everything and Read sessions (DEAR), a dress-up day, read-alouds with buddies, visits from local authors, and more! You can get an idea from this video.
See the authors that are visiting and order books through this link by 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18th and you can get them signed! Books can be ordered after that date through April 28th but they will likely not be signed.
Dress-up Day is Tuesday! Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite authors or characters. Halloween rule apply (no masks or weapons, no gory stuff).
Also, remember to donate K-8 books for our traditional book swap! We're collecting until Tuesday, April 23rd! You can donate your gently-used, K-8 appropriate books by handing your donation to the administrator on duty or drop them off in the UAC school office. We're hoping to collect many, many new titles for our students to enjoy at the book swap! Email Director of Teaching and Learning, Chris Chun at cchun@theberkeleyschool.org if you have any questions.

This is an optional, drop-in time for students to work on assignments, get help from teachers, and bolster study skills. Sessions will be run by Stephen Cahill (SEL/Health Specialist); Jen Tilson (MS Learning Specialist/Executive Function Coach); and Julia Shields (4th-6th Learning Specialist). Good Work takes place on Mondays and Thursdays, after school from 3:35 PM to 5:00 PM.

Did you know that the ECC is a certified wildlife habitat? That means that our school has created and maintains an outdoor environment that supports local wildlife by providing food, cover, water and places for animals to raise their young. We do this not only because it benefits the planet and wildlife, but also because we know how beneficial (and FUN) it is for children to spend time daily in high-quality, well-designed, nature-based outdoor spaces. In honor of Earth Month, ECC students will learn about what they can do to help maintain a healthy habitat for all living things. On Wednesday, April 30th, we will have a Garden Work Day.! ECC children will be planting, weeding, cleaning up, and tending to our beautiful ECC Campus environment. ECC Families are invited to volunteer to help out with gardening activities OR if volunteering on a school day is not possible, consider donating plants, compost, or other supplies!
