TBS Approach to Individual Family Tuition
At The Berkeley School, we strive to make our educational program affordable and reflective of the socioeconomic diversity of the East Bay. TBS families contribute between 5% and 100% of the top-rate tuition, with approximately 37% of our families paying less than the top-rate tuition. We encourage all families to apply for an Individual Family Tuition rate.

How do I apply for Individual Family Tuition?
- Create an account through Clarity. The application takes less than 30 minutes to complete, you can save it, and return to later if needed.
- There is a $60 fee to submit your application. Once you submit an application through Clarity, it can be shared with other schools.
What information do I need to have ready to fill out my Clarity application?
- Be able to fill out information for all parenting adults and dependents in your child’s life. Please complete separate applications for each household.
- With your permission, Clarity will transfer your most recent personal tax returns directly from the IRS. Please note, business owners will be asked to upload their business returns. Other tax documents may be requested as needed.
- Additionally, you will need to input the following information: income estimates for the current year, approximately monthly out-of-pocket expenses, information about assets and liabilities

How will I know if my household qualifies for Individual Family Tuition?
For applicants that have applied by our deadlines and are eligible for reduced tuition, their Individual Family Tuitions are included in the enrollment contract that goes out on Thursday, January 15 for returning TBS families, and new Early Childhood Campus families. As well as on Thursday, March 19th for new Kindergarten through 8th grade families.
